Day 4 of my blogging: 16.10.2013

The morning surprised me like a thunder out of nowhere…

We stared straight in the morning to get to the real business. That means that, we checked ones all together the problems our entrepreneurs are dealing with.  Every one pointed out on the opinion on a flipchart. These really helped us after we were divided in the groups.  Our goal was to find some solutions for my opinion the hardest one.  ˝How do we maintain the profitability of our bird seed business? ˝  

We put our head together and started it. And you wouldn’t believe we came with some solutions. We used the knowledge we got the previous days and it fitted perfectly in.

With the help of the knowledge how to make a business plan we discovered that they are many options. We picked up the best tree and got deeper in to it. So our firs thought was to increase the price of the product for 1% witch will bring them quote an income. The second option was a bird house witch is self-building product of the buyer. The third solution we came up, was expend the product to the small pet market.

Therefore we believe, if our entrepreneur introduces the ideas we presented, he will be able to mountain or increase the profitability of the business.    

And now I am lucking forward for the night walk on the top of the Malvern Hills.

Day six, lat official day of the autumn meeting in England: 18.10.2013

As all good things come to an end also the autumn meeting counted the last hours.

Today it was on au to make a proper business plan and present it to the audience who where other participants. In the end each group choose the best idea and there plan to present to everyone. It was great to see that how different ideas come together and what are the future possibilities of all us. What I found funny that the sharks who decide about the future the ideas, took their job seriously and gave there honest opinion.

In the afternoon after the presentations, there was again no really free time because, there was surprise goal to achieve. Write some thoughts to each person who was at the seminar. I really enjoined to have the sheet of paper in front of me, reading the name and the felling of the week with these person to share. It is necessary to make evaluations especially if there are involving, how do you feel about the person or what you could or these person give you in a quote short period of time.

I know that most of the participant would describe me as something funny... But I also know that my “funniness” can sometimes be a pain in the, you all know where....

So hope you got my jokes and if not, even bather.

The last evening was a total surprise, when I heard about the wedding, was not quite sure what is going to be. Actually I was glad that I had to pick up firs who I gone bee. My first thoughts when I was reading it out lad: “Mother of the bride”, oh not a woman... But as I tried the dress I felt  oh, there was no belt...

The whole night was actually perfect.

Day five: 17.10.2013

I have to admit that the first thought coming up that the seminar is finishing in 2 day. Thad is making me sad, because I am having a great time here with the participants in Malvern Hills outdoor resort.

Last evening we had a night walk on a hill nearby, the height is 427m above the sea. With these information I am not saying that it was a peace of cake, because at some spots it was quote stipe and windy. But on the top it was a great view on the city around, and as the Latin saying says “Per aspera ad astra”.    

In the morning we woke up earlier because we went on a trip to Worcester a city nearby where we visited the Worcester cathedral. The guide told as a lot of interesting stories about the Benedictines monastery. What I personally found interesting was that they had inside a restaurant, today a cafe, for the visitors. Early in the mileage these was one of the safest places where to spend the night and get fresh supplies.

What I really liked was that we could walk down hill to the train station and of course back up. Really funny it was that I could carry Marja from Finland few meters uphill.

In the afternoon we had two wary interesting presentations, the first was Nick who is the owner of Malvern hill outdoor center. He presented why he bout the places and how the business started and what he improved first.  The second was John Hardman a businessman and the treasurer of NFYFC. He presented himself in a quote narcissi way. However, I have to admit; because of his reputation is these possible. He convinced me that he is a businessperson witch pays special attention to social companies. He understands that a satisfied and happy worker is  important aspect of a company.

Under today’s line: for me it was a long tired day, but the lectures war more interesting as my tiredness…

Day three: 15.10.13

How should I begin as that it was again a weary short night… Last night we were visited by a local dance group named Border Morris. They made a great show and what is most important they gave us lesions about the traditional dance.

But the morning today was awesome in totally worthed to wake up. I will not write too much because the picture below is saying everything.  You have to know that it is autumn and we are in England…

So it was a perfect day to have a trip around and see the local entrepreneurships. First is a local shop named Hopes by Longtown. We discussed about it with Christina Hope about her idea and her work and specially the problems she is dealing with. These are getting younger customers and how to make a better advertisement.

The second entrepreneurship we visited is named White Hoywood Farm Restaurant. The idea is simple, to serve the customers home grown food. The main problem is to increase the customers.

Everyone who is in these are I highly recommend to go and visit the place. The food is simple made and taste great. Not to forget they offer bed and breakfast.  

The last visit was at Wiggly Wiggler I would cold it a multi entrepreneurship. Basically it is big farm, which is producing grass seeds for golf, tennis… The grow worms for compost, and started with a florist company, and got many the awards. Specially it is mass customization.

After lunch I have to admit to take a short nap, to be ready for the entertainment evening with NFYEC. They prepared funny games and we or I had the opportunity to know some more people to know.  

Under today’s line I have to say, I needed the moving around and it was great to take a closer look at all the business. Not to forget it was a super sunny day.

Day two: 14.10.2013

After a short night, because it was the international buffet evening and we had the opportunity to thy food from all countries where the participants are from.

Every country presented the food they brought. For me it was useful to know what I was eating.

But all of you probably know how these kind of evenings end... With a HAPPY smile next morning.

staying in bad as soon as possible, taking shower, breakfast, energiser (Ninja) and the series stuff the first session.

Entrepreneurship was the topic. So what does these word mean... as we discover it is hard to pronounced.  An entrepreneur is innovative, risk taker, manufacturer, self driven, creative, leadership,...

We where to whole time creative to understand the meaning of these word and thru all sessions we were mixed up to be even more creative, because as we learned yesterday at the adventures a group is stronger and full of surprises.

We had visit from Ginger, she is really nice young women from NatWest. She helped as to understand how the bank as an investor is thinking and working and what are the most important things in a business plan. Do not go to a bank, if you do not have a business plan, and please ask somebody from your friends what is their opinion about your idea. And write is so, that it is pushing for curiosity in the investors mind. You get usually maximum 10 minutes time, that they take a luck at it.

In the afternoon we had a lecture about social media from Lynsey ( not Lindsey Vonn, it is written whit N). She told and shoved us all about the basic information how the social network is working and how make offer out of it, for our organisations and local business.  

Under the line of the second day, I have to admit it was more intensive, but the topics are flowing together.

So even I started to write a blog. Today is the first day of the official autumn meeting of rural youth Europe and one of the tasks is to write a BLOG. So here I go trying my best…

Here in Malvern heels in England we are a nice European group of or more or less young people who have all the same goal, to make the life in the rural area nicer in the future.

Yesterday it was actually the first day, to arrive here and to start knowing the participants. We also had some games witch supposed to help to connect the faces to the names of the participants who are from most of the European countries.  

After a quite short night we all started the day with an English breakfast and got reed for the first session whit energizer, to be sure that everybody is awake…

All of us had the opportunity to present our home Countries, the organisations we belong and a local business.

For lunch there was waiting what I was personally waiting, Fish and chips, I really missed it since my last and fist visit, lot of years ago.

Exactly at 14h English time, the coordinators of the facility waited for us, to do some special stuff with us. We had some competitions in groups and individual, the most interesting thing where the challenges to find a solution for everyone.

Under the line I have learned that you cannot do everything by you own. Working in a group is always fun and has creative solutions…
